Today is the start of the 2023-24 USASF season.
In my corner of the cheer world the biggest topic of late has been the USASF raising the minimum age of Open team athletes to 18ish along with the competitive disadvantage that gives US teams since the rest of the World has a younger minimum age. It’s not fair and when I get an email telling me it’s unfair I agree with it because it is unfair. It is also the right thing to do.
The other topic has been what to do if only 2 teams remain in a Worlds division. It appear Large Coed will only have 2 teams remaining in it. It is one of the marquee divisions, otherwise it would probably be eliminated, but since it is so high profile I don’t see that happening.
There were several cheer and dance changes made to the rules and age grids so be sure to familiarize yourself with those if you are in the industry. Otherwise “Good Luck”, we’ll be back in Orlando before you know it.
