Kentucky is now 5-7 and the season is over. The season ended with a 38-24 loss to Louisville after jumping out to a 24-7 halftime lead. Without earning at least 6 wins the Cats are not bowl eligible, therefore the season is over. Sadly for the football team, the basketball team already has more victories this season.
On the national scene there are 2 undefeated teams remaining, Clemson and Iowa. Both will secure spots in the playoff with wins in their conference championships games this weekend. Both will play 1 loss teams with Clemson meeting North Carolina and Iowa meeting Michigan State.
The other teams in solid playoff contention are Oklahoma, Alabama, and Michigan State. Oklahoma has played their final game before Selection Sunday so I’m certain they’ll be in. Alabama plays Florida and Michigan State plays Iowa with Alabama and Michigan State being all but certain of securing a spot with a victory. What will be interesting to see is who gets in if Clemson or Alabama lose this weekend.
