Concussions a Concern for Cheerleaders

The Springfield News-Leader published Concussions a Concern for Cheerleaders, generally discussing concussions in cheerleading.

“In a sport as extremely physical as ours, you are not ever going to be able to eliminate all the injuries, all the accidents and human mistakes that occur,” said Tabbi McCallister, head coach and program director for the Icon Cheer teams. “The best you can do is train your athletes properly. Train your coaches properly and provide a safe training environment in the hopes that you can reduce the likelihood of injuries and accidents.”

If you want to learn more about concussions please take the CDC’s Heads Up Online Training Course, which is now required to get credentialed through the USASF or become a certified USASF Safety Judge.
