Puchkoff cheered competitively for 10 years, an accomplishment she says comes with its own bag of absurd yet silly politics, most of which is unknown to anyone outside the cheerleading world. And while the script focuses on her experiences, the series overall, she said, serves as a vehicle for highlighting the growing pressure on girls to focus more on how they are perceived versus their substance.
