Observations After Event 2 of 2013-14

My second event of the season, actually my 2nd in the country and 4th overall, reminded me teams don’t know how to recover when they make a mistake. When a stunt drops the group too often stands there and looks lost. They need to be taught how to and practice getting back into a stunt or pyramid sequence so if something goes wrong on competition day they know what to do.

On the rules side of things, I’m consistently seeing and calling early releases in pyramids. For pyramid release moves the rules say:

Clarification: Contact must be made with a base on the performing surface BEFORE contact with the bracer(s) is lost.

This is much more objective and tighter than the “concerted effort” that was required last season. Please make sure your bracers and top people are clearly maintaining contact long enough so the skill is legal.
