SportAccord Response to IFC “The Fact” Document

Dear Mr President,

SportAccord LogoI am writing to you in response to the fact sheets sent out by the International Federation of Cheerleading (IFC) on 7 May 2012 and 16 May 2012 as well as the letter addressed to me on 21 May 2012.

(See IFC & ICU The Facts 2012)

IFC LogoI am very disappointed with the IFC’s dissemination of inaccurate information to our Members regarding the International Cheer Union (ICU) as well as SportAccord. We made an effort to support both the IFC and ICU with mediation discussions since April of 2011 and based on our observations, your organisation has never been fully committed to this process.

SportAccord has adhered to its statutory requirements in the evaluation of the ICU and all other membership applications that we have received this year, which includes only accepting membership applications received by the deadline given.

International Cheer Union logoOn a more personal note, I am equally disappointed with the interactions that I have had with your organisation in the past year, particularly with the surprise meeting that was orchestrated in Japan.

In the future, we would appreciate that all questions or concerns regarding SportAccord and our membership application process be directed to us and not to our Members or other organisations. This will avoid the spread of misinformation.

I thank you for your cooperation and am confident that I will not have to respond to these types of fact sheets or letters in the future.

Yours sincerely,

Hein Verbruggen
