By all accounts, the university’s stance on competition cheerleading is rather hazy. After the UA squad won the national championship, the university did not send out any news releases to announce it. University officials offered little help when Tuscaloosa News reporters tried to reach team members after their win on Jan. 16.

On the other hand, the school hasn’t expressly forbidden the squad from competing and posted an announcement two days after the competition on RollTide.com, the university’s athletics website, about the squad’s national championship.

    Very interesting, so are UA Athletic Director Mal Moore and Staff making a public comment regarding the validity of School Based Cheerleading programs also competing for a National Title through there "no comment" status? On the other hand, is this an example of an extremely poor Doug Walker Associate Athletics Director-Media Relations & Pat Whetstone
    Director of Alumni Affairs not recognizing the opportunity to place the National spotlight once again on UA with the significant positive opportunity for recruiting more and better students in the future? Very interesting!
