The “future” might come sooner than many expected. Two prominent national organizations — USA Gymnastics and USA Cheer — have plans to establish standardized rules designed to help competitive cheerleading become a legitimate sport.

That is good news for proponents of the activity, despite the judge’s ruling that labeled competitive cheerleading as “too underdeveloped and disorganized.”
