Root Cause

Last week I was at the airport and read a headline saying the release of a video was going to tear Chicago apart. It rubbed me the wrong way because it seemed to be putting the responsibility on the releasing of the video instead of the content of the video. YouTube has around 18,000 hours of video uploaded every hour and they generally don’t cause problems for a city, but the headline made it sound like this one would. The video isn’t the root cause, the content is, and instead of focusing on preventing the release of the video, maybe the time spent should be on preventing a repeat of the content.
