Congratulations to the United States Women’s National Team for winning the World Cup last night. It’s the teams 3rd title, going along with 1991 and 1999, making them the only team with 3 titles. The US team beat defending World Cup champion Japan 5-2 after jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first 16 minutes. Both the US and Japan gave up more goals in this game, the highest scoring final in Women’s World Cup history, than they did in their other 6 games in this year’s World Cup.
The next major tournament will be the Olympics next year in Rio and the next World Cup will be hosted by France in 2019.
