March Madness Opening Week

The first week of March Madness has come to an end and it’s been a wild one. Of the 11.5 million brackets completed on ESPN, only 1 remained perfect at the start of Saturday. This tournament is all about surviving and winning by 1 on a controversial call or blowing a team out counts the same. Sixteen teams survived including Kentucky, Duke, and Louisville. Many teams didn’t, including 1 seed Villanova, 2 seeds Virginia and Kansas, and a few 3 seeds. Kentucky didn’t play as well as I would like them to in either of their games so far, but they survived and advanced. Their defense was good overall, but their offense was inconsistent and will need to be better for them to continue to win. The next game is against West Virginia on Thursday night, then Saturday against the winner between Notre Dame and Wichita State. May the Cats continue to survive and advance.
