Deep South Cheer

I’ve spent the past week in Jackson, MS. The tripped was planned so I judge Deep South Cheer Nationals, but I came early and stayed for a while to hang out with a few friends. David Hanbery and I had a chance to talk about 2 projects we will be working on. One with Farid Louis and the other with Marcel Hammond and Chris Russell. I’m sure at some point more people will get involved with both, but we’re going to set the foundation.

Josh Jones returned to Jackson with his fiance, Kat, and we got a chance to catch up, have an adult beverage, and talk about Kat’s project, CollegeCheerGuide.com. Josh judged with us, but has also been settling into his new “real” job. Miguel Sanchez, the new cheerleading coach at Mississippi State, judged with us and had his teams perform before heading to UCA College Nationals. We also took a trip to Starkville to see their friends and family performance. I want to wish them luck this weekend (but still want my Cats to win).

I also got to judge with Niel, Sara, and Lana. I’ve judged with Niel several times with Deep South and JAMfest, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen him. I’ve known Sara and Lana since they were in high school, through their time with Inside Cheerleading in Atlanta, and back to Jackson. The next stop is Chattanooga with Elza and Keogh.
