Happy Easter Everyone! I’m spending Easter with my parents and having bacon for breakfast. I’ve already sent a Happy Easter tweet and logged into Facebook to see that I have a lot of messages.

I’m Giving Up Facebook & Twitter…
… for Lent.
I’ve decided to give up Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Bacon, and Beer for Lent. You’ll still get a tweet and Facebook status update when I publish something on andrejcarter.com because those are done automatically, but that should be all until Easter. If you need to get in touch with my try calling, texting, or email because Facebook messages won’t do much good for a while.
Note – This will extend to my use of the Spirit Post accounts also. There are others that can access the @SpiritPost and @SpiritPost411 accounts, so it’s likely you’ll still get tweets, just not from me.
Fat Tuesday
I got to attend the Kentucky versus Mississippi State basketball game in Starkville on Fat Tuesday. Miguel Sanchez hooked us up and we got a chance to briefly hang out with the squad before the game. The game itself was a mess. It was close from beginning to end, but not a great display of basketball. The refs had several questionable call in the second half, especially coming down the stretch. In the end some fans threw stuff on the court, Kentucky won in overtime, and I’m sure the refs got out of Starkville as fast as possible. The tweets from the game didn’t go out in order. It looks like the ones sent using Tweetie, with pictures, were delayed.
After the game we went out for a bit since it was my last night before giving up alcohol for Lent. I now have back to back weekends without a cheerleading competition so I’ll hopefully get a lot done.
Lent & Luke’s Back
Lent started a few days ago and I decided I would give up alcohol. I did it a few years ago and it wasn’t too bad. The most amusing reactions come from friends that are used to ordering a round when we go out to eat, but now I have to remind them I’m sitting out. One of them half jokingly said next time I need to consult them before making a major decision like that. There a few events during lent that would normally be a party, but will be low key this year; trips to Atlanta, Vancouver, and Orlando, plus St. Patrick’s Day.
During Lent we’ll probably have a lot of Fish and Chip Friday lunches so I’ll be ranking them as we try out different restaurants. Sine on Pentagon City Row was first so its obviously in the lead. Their plate had 2 large pieces of fish, fries, and coleslaw, all of which was pretty good. I’ll write more once we try out some more places so I have something to compare it to.
Luke got his groove back today. I got mine back about 2 months ago. I’ll just say life is better this way.
Mardi Gras
Happy Mardi Gras.
Today is Super Tuesday, a day in which a lot of states have their political Primaries and a lot of candidates realize if they have an actual chance at becoming the President.
Today many in New York are still attempting to recover from the Giants’ SuperBowl victory and tomorrow many in New Orleans will be recovering from Mardi Gras celebrations. Tomorrow is also Ash Wednesday, or the beginning of Lent. Will you be participating by giving anything up?
TechCrunch also has an interesting article on why YahooSoft or Microhoo may not be all bad.
