Hello 2011: The Year of Selfishness

Twenty Eleven is here. Congrats to everyone that made it. I’m making this year a selfish year, but I don’t mean that in a bad or conceited way. I mean it’s a year to get everything back on track following the events of the past few years.

So what’s in store for 2011? Friends & Family. I want to spend more time with the people that have made my life better in hopes of returning the favor. I may not be able to spend more time with some, but at least be better about keeping in touch with Friends & Family. Fitness. I want to get back to the day when a 3 mile run was relaxing, instead of work. Focus. I’m going to take a good look at everything I’m involved with so I can cut out the things that aren’t going anywhere and give more attention to the items that are.

I’m also going to attempt the WordPress Post a Week campaign.

    Team Fox

Jeff sent me the following email about Team Fox and the Country Music Marathon:

Although the 2009 Country Music Marathon will be my fourth marathon, it will also be my first marathon with a real purpose. My mother was one of the 60,000 cases of Parkinson’s diagnosed this year. Seeing the changes she has had to make to her day to day life has really opened my eyes to the effects of this disease. I cannot think of any better way to honor her struggle than to dedicate my training and race efforts in the 2009 Country Music Marathon to helping find a cure.

Remember, there is no such thing as a donation that is too small (or too large!). If one million people donated one dollar each we would be $1,000,000 closer to finding a cure. Please join me in making a difference in the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease. Your support of my Team Fox efforts helps The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research keep on doing whatever it takes to speed life-changing treatments and, ultimately, a cure to the nearly five million people worldwide living with Parkinson’s disease.

    Management Lesson 6

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story: Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy, not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend, and when you’re in deep shit, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!

    Friends Don’t

As a friend I believe there are a few rules my friends need to be aware of. Friends don’t let thier friends down, therefore friends don’t…

    • …let friends drink alone.
    • …let friends drink from plastic bottles.
    • …let friends shoot tequila after drinking a forty.
    • …let friends take “Policy Breakers” home.
    • …let friends drink Absinthe on an empty stomach.
